The Wildheart
Halvenar · Book OneThe WildheartThe first deer passed close enough for Milo to feel the wind of it.
The elves tested Milo Winby five times as a child, before the pale stone that measures every gift his people value. Five times it showed nothing.
A hundred and fifty years later he is a Wayward of the Crossers’ Guild, Counted and never more, living on the edge of a village called Greenhollow with a patched cloak and a mended bow. He is the one who goes out when something comes down from the forest, and he would rather you didn’t thank him for it.
Then the forest runs. Animals pour past him, fleeing something nobody in the valley can name, and the only one who can hear the wound it came from is the elf whose own people found nothing there.
A slow-burn fantasy about loyalty that has to be earned, a friendship that starts as a rivalry, and a young man who keeps failing forward because the people at the end of the road are counting on him.

Halvenar
A world of river cities and stone holds, of doors that were never meant to open and the guilds that cross them anyway. Its magic always costs something: warmth lent from your own body, strength burned to fuel a working.
